Our CMS Technology

A Content Management System (CMS) is software which is used to automate the process of creating, publishing, and maintaining content (most often for the web). A CMS simplifies content production by empowering content contributors (authors, editors, copy editors, management, not just a technical team) by enabling them to perform content creation, publishing and maintenance related tasks. For a Web based CMS, these tasks can be performed 24/7 from any location.

A CMS usually consists of a front-end editor for inputting content, a back-end system for storing content and adding business logic, and a template system to style the content to the desired look and feel.

We believe that content is key to a successful website.  Managing that content can be difficult for non-technical content creators thus requiring the use of a CMS.

The First-Rate-CMS Content management System is designed to run well on a Linux, Apache, MYSQL, PHP stack.  This arrangement is known as a LAMP stack.

Our Content Management Software (CMS) operates by using the server-side scripting language PHP and MYSQL database combination to manage Web site content.  The software provides a front-end graphical user interface accessible through a standard web browser.  This allows the production of dynamic web pages, and the website owner does not need to understand the underlying technology of how the CMS operates.  The CMS technology makes it very easy for non-technical website owners to create, edit, review and publish content to their websites. In fact, this technology allows anyone and everyone to become an online publisher.  In summary:

The First-Rate-CMS is based upon PHP4, PHP5 and MySQL. The content repository is currently a MySQL database. The product uses password and session management. The product is hosted on Linux and Unix servers. No knowledge of HTML programming is required to manage content. No knowledge of FTP is required to upload pictures, product CSV. and mp3 files.
